Formed in 2012, Paolozzi Tango Trio, on violin, piano, and accordion, plays primarily for a listening audience, featuring original compositions along with some traditional Argentine tangos, often inspiring dancers to take to the floor. Through
its Concert Tango events, the trio performs at a variety of venues in the south Bay Area, often in collaboration with dance teachers who start the evening with an introductory tango lesson.
Paolozzi, Accordion and Composer
Gianfranco composes all of the original music played by the trio. He started playing accordion as a child in Italy. He also is an artist of mixed media and has made Sunnyvale his home since 1974.
Nancy Lane, Piano
Nancy started tinkling the ivories as a young child. She studied
music performance at San Jose State. A singer-songwriter and pianist, she shares her love of music with her private students, teaching them voice, composition, and piano.
Violin and Viola
Since playing with Paolozzi Tango Trio, Griff has grown greatly as a musician. Griff started playing violin in California public school prior to Proposition 13's passage.
In high school, he studied the viola and was principal viola of the Marin Youth Orchestra his senior year. In addition to playing with Paolozzi Tango Trio, he occasionally plays with Redwood
Symphony, and more often in the pit orchestra for Peninsula Youth Theater Main Stage Musical productions in which his older son performs. He also is an AYSO referee in Region 45 where his younger son plays soccer. Griff likes to drink lager and pilsner beers.
